DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

      The college was established on 30th June 1969 with the sanction of chemistry subject at undergraduate level along with physics and mathematics. The chemistry teaching at post graduate level started in year 1975. Starting with 02 faculty members and 12 students in the inaugural batch the department today caters approximately 300 students at UG and PG levels. Department has witnessed remarkable progress under the leadership of Prof. M.K. Pathak, Prof. S.K. Dabral, Prof. R.S. Bisht, Prof. P.S. Makhloga and Prof. R.P. Singh who have served as head of the department during these years.

      A thoroughly updated and revised syllabus at PG and UG levels has been implemented in the year 2013 and 2015 respectively. Today the department has ICT enabled facilities, lecture rooms and 03 laboratories to teach and train students in theoretical and practical chemistry.

    The department of chemistry also has a research laboratory and an instrumentation room to enable faculty members, research faculty and research scholars to pursue research work. All faculty members are actively involved in research activities, academic writing and other extension activities besides the classroom teaching. Research activities in the department have produced several PhDs and publications in the journals of international repute. Research in the field of extraction of natural products, essential oils, N-heterocyclic carbene, metal-organic frameworks, advanced materials, environmental remediation, sensing and biological activity of synthetic & extracted chemicals is presently being undertaken in the department. The department is as one of the best performing chemistry department in the region.
