The college was established on 30th June 1969 with the
sanction of mathematics subject at undergraduate level along with physics and
chemistry. The mathematics teaching at post graduate level started in year 2001.
There are approximately 300 students at UG and PG level in the department.
A
thoroughly updated and revised syllabus at PG and UG levels has been implemented
in the year 2013 and 2015 respectively.

All faculty members are actively involved in research
activities, academic writing and other extension activities besides the
classroom teaching. They have published number of research papers in the
national and international research journal.
On January 07, 2018 the department will conduct a
mathematical competition for S. Y. B. Sc. students with the help of department
of mathematics S. P. College Pune, Homi Bhabha centre for science education,
T.I.F.R. Mumbai and funded by N. B. H. M.
On January 12, 2020, the department conducted a mathematical competition for B. Sc. students with the help of the department of Mathematics S. P. College Pune, Homi Bhabha Center for science education, T.I.F.R. Mumbai and funded by N. B. H. M.
